Stretched Across The Sky

By
Angela Lucas

The rainbow stretched across the sky.
The arc so high, fragile yet strong.
A plane approached
At first a speck
Came from the north.
The watchers gasped
As towards the arc it went
Then melted through the bow.

The children squealed in great delight
They'd seen a miracle for sure.
The rainbow stayed
Across the sky
The people watching wondered why -
A fragile arc
Pierced right through
Could stubbornly remain.

The secret's in the answer.
Remember who made the bow.
Who placed it there -
An arc of love to us.
A cross was lifted
Up towards the sky.
The cross became the arc
'Twas His body pierced right through.
