Parting
By
Martin Stuart
We trod our road together
For many good long miles.
We braved inclement weather,
Crossed brooks and clambered stiles.
We cuddled through the winter,
Ran laughing in the rain,
And in the sun were tender
Again, again, again.
But here our path divides,
And now our journey's through
We cling and close our eyes
And can't believe it's true.
One long last kiss we weave
Before we part for ever,
And turn as if to leave,
And say 'Forget you never'.
Then back to hug and cry
To ease our fear and pain,
And so say our goodbye
Again, again, again.
