Venezia
by Ray Frost

Venice, my love, we flew
Watched you fall away, my jewel fixed in blue,
After we’d stood beyond the water’s reach
And watched the boats glide down liquid streets,
Sun lit the world from below
My love molten as I watched your eyes glow,
The black bows sliced through jade and turquoise
Slinking away from all human made noise,
Our map of stone stars
A city for bold hearts,
Live paintings framed by wooden sills
Matched only by masters of oil canvas spills,
Majestic megaliths of stone
Lounged upon timber seats of ocean thrones,
Melodies danced through laughter-lit squares
Lifted my feet above far away cares,
Venice, my love, we flew
Watched you fall away, my jewel fixed in blue.
